Wayne Stevenson Triplett

Wayne Stevenson Triplett. age 79, of Sparta; passed away Thursday, August 11th, 2022 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in Winston-Salem, NC.

Wayne was born October 26th, 1942 in Detroit, MI to the late Floyd Stevenson and Ruth Olivia McDade Triplett.

From his youth, Wayne was a confident and careful driver, a skill which led to his first job driving school buses for the Alleghany County School system. After his graduation from Sparta High School in 1961, Wayne worked for Clete Choate at Sparta Hardware, and later for Charles Castevens at Castevens Motor Company. Wayne was an avid amateur radio operator, and also enjoyed serving on the Sparta Volunteer Fire Department. His technical skills and work ethic led to his employment for a number of years with Skyline Telephone Company of Sparta.

Wayne was diligent, competent, and always had a smile to share. Humble and self-effacing, his personal motto was "be prepared" and his high school classmates gave him the nickname "Lightning". His gentle spirit and kind-hearted ways won him many friends over the course of his lifetime - a lifetime characterized by honesty, loyalty, and good will toward others. Memories of Wayne will be deeply cherished by family and friends.

Survivors include his daughter, Elizabeth Dawn Triplett of the home; three sisters: Elaine Miller of Laurel Springs, Caroline Caudill and husband Bill of Harvest, AL, Becky Hall of Boone; a brother, Thomas Triplett and wife Corine of Tulsa, OK; several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends also survive.

A memorial service to honor the life of Wayne will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 16th, 2022 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Pastor Dale Baugus officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
