Virginia (Smith) Simons

Virginia Smith Simons, age 77, of Sparta, NC; passed away Wednesday, March 20th, 2024 at Alleghany Health in Sparta.

Virginia was born December 25th, 1946 in Alleghany County to the late Joseph Earl and Edna Wagoner Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Simons; a sister, Betty Hicks; two brothers: Hal Wagoner and Ted Smith; a nephew, Jeffery Butcher.

Survivors include a daughter, Iva Sue Watkins and husband Howard of McGrady; two godsons: Alvin and Andrew Sales of Wilkes County; a sister, Linda Perry of Glade Valley; two nephews: Joe Hicks and wife Marilyn of Boomer, Roger Hicks of Marion, VA; a niece, Carol Parsons of Walnut Cove; grandnieces, grandnephews and extended family also survive.

In keeping with Virginia's wishes, her body will be donated to science. No formal services will be held.
