Viola (Brooks) Shaw

Viola Brooks Shaw, age 86 of Sparta; passed away Saturday, June 6th, 2026 at her residence.

Viola was born August 8th, 1939 in Alleghany County to the late Lon H. and Bessie Baugus Brooks. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Donald Lee "Buck" Shaw; a son, Donald Kevin Shaw; four sisters: Eva Campbell, Lorene Presnell, Pawnee Choate and Gertrude Crouse; two brothers: Lacy Brooks and Clayton Brooks.

Survivors include a son, Phillip Shaw and wife Marlene of Sparta; a granddaughter, Marla Coleman and husband TJ of Sparta; three great grandchildren: Malachi, Colten and Lila; three brothers: Zane Brooks of Jonesville, Nelson Brooks of Oregon, Wayne Brooks and wife Barbara of Clemmons; a sister, Mary Alice Hudson of Sparta; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Monday, June 15th, 2026 at Rich Hill Cemetery with Reverend Max Combs officiating. No formal visitation will be held.
