Tommy Gayle Nixon

Tommy "Tom" Gayle Nixon, age 83 of Sparta; passed away Monday, October 13th, 2025 at Alleghany Memorial Hospital.

Tom was born July 3rd, 1942 in Surry County to the late James Virgil and Opal Willey Nixon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Crouse Nixon. Tom proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

Tom is survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A graveside service to honor the life of Tom will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, October 16th, 2025 at Pine Swamp Cemetery. No formal visitation will be held.

The family would like to thank the staff of Services Unlimited, Alleghany Council on Aging, Medi-Home Health and Hospice of Alleghany and the staff of Alleghany Health.
