Tom Daynard Atwood

Tom D. Atwood, age 92, of Sparta, NC; passed away Thursday, April 24th, 2025 at his residence.

Tom was born May 24th, 1932 in Alleghany County to the late Frank and Lillie Billings Atwood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronald Lynn Atwood; a special grandson, Tommy Atwood; two brothers: Dorman and Derol Atwood; a sister, Thelma Mabe.

Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Rosalee Atwood of the home; two daughters: Terry Atwood of Sparta and Lisa Waite and husband Snoopy of Wadmalaw Island, SC; a son, Mark Atwood of Sparta; two granddaughters: Rae Moeller and husband Luke of Huntersville, NC, Markie McMurtry and husband David of Maiden, NC; extended family and friends also survive

A memorial service to honor the life of Tom will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 29th, 2025 at Sparta United Methodist Church with Reverends Michelle Foster-Beckerleg, Ben Gatton, and Tom Miller officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
