Sheri (Benge) Maxwell

Sheri Benge Maxwell, age 52 of Thurmond, NC; passed away Sunday July 20th, 2025 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.

Sheri was born January 29th, 1973 in Galax, VA to James Benge and the late Sandra Kaye Miller Benge. Sheri loved spending time with her family, crocheting, listening to audio books, fishing, going to the beach, and making hand made gifts. She was a true artist and was full of life. 

Survivors include two children: Sydnee Denton and husband Nick of Galax, VA, a son, Logan Maxwell of High Point, NC; a granddaughter, Remington Denton of Galax, VA; Fiance, Eric Bennett of Thurmond, NC; her father, James Benge of Sparta, NC; a sister, Ronda Blevins and husband Daryl of Sparta, NC; two nieces: Summer Hall and husband Zack of Sparta, NC, Autumn Billings and husband Jerimiah of Sparta, NC; a special great niece, Oakley Hall of Sparta, NC, several extended family and friends also survive. 

A memorial service to honor the life of Sheri will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 26th, 2025 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Pastor Homer Murdock officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice in Dobson, NC and to the nurses at Forsyth Medical Center.
