Samuel Charles Nichols Jr., age 71, of Ennice, NC; passed away Sunday, February 9th, 2025 at his residence.
Samuel was born on March 22nd, 1953 in Galax, VA to the late Samuel Nichols, Sr. and Lena Combs Nichols.
Samuel was a retired U. S. Army veteran and served in Desert Storm and was a mechanic in the U. S Air Force. He was a member of the Glade Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Blue Ridge Chapel, American Legion, and Sparta VFW. He was a farmer, Boy Scout leader, and Sunday School teacher. Sam loved to hunt and travel.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Irene Greene Nichols of the home; two sons, Tony Nichols of Winston-Salem, Charlie Nichols of the home ; a daughter, Crystal Hammond and husband Pete of State Road; a daughter-in-law, Crystal Leah Nichols of Winston-Salem; a stepson, Adam Keziah and wife Donna of Cleveland, NC; two sisters: Wilma Hamm and husband Daniel of GA, Alice Brown and husband Harvey of Galax; two brothers: Mack Nichols of Ennice, Bill Nichols and wife Darlene of Berea, KY; an aunt, Josie Nichols of Cana, VA; five grandchildren: Nevin Nichols, Olisa Hammond, Freya Nichols, Rachel Hammond, Maximus Nichols.
Funeral services to honor the life of Samuel will be held at 11:00am on Friday, February 14th, 2025 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Reverends David Moore, Mark Carico, Keith Mallison, and Mark Mayes officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Bruce Wayne Osborne VFW Post #7034 of Sparta. Interment will follow the service at Edmonds Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
