S. Jean Stevens Obituary

S. Jean Stevens, 76, passed away Sunday, February 2nd, 2025 at her summer home in Laurel Mountain Estates, Sparta, NC after a long fight with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Carl Stevens; a son, Scott; a daughter, Annie; two sisters: Sarah and Norma; three grandchildren.

Born in 1948, Jean spent her childhood in Largo, FL and graduated from Largo High School. Jean was active in 4H and played the trombone before becoming a majorette in the marching band. Jean went on to attend FSU and graduated in 1970. While attending FSU, Jean was an active member of the Phi Mu sorority and FSU is where she met her husband, Carl.

After getting married in 1971, she and Carl moved to the Palm Beaches in late 1971 where she began working at Tri-City Bank, which later began part of the First Marine Bank group. She worked there as a supervisor and Assistant Vice President of Operations for over 9 years before retiring to raise her two children. Jean was very active with the PTO (PTA) at both Eisenhower Grade School and Dwyer High School for a number of years. Jean was also very active with the Junior Women's Club of North Palm Beach, FL where she served as President for a number of years.

After her husband retired in 2007, she and Carl began spending their summers in Sparta, NC where they built a log cabin. Jean spent much of her time sewing, which was a lifelong pastime. She was very active in a number of local quilting guilds in the area, including Sparta, Elkin and West Jefferson, where she had a large number of friends who will greatly miss her.
