Ruth (Dancy) Wooten

Donna Ruth Dancy Wooten, age 73 of Laurel Springs, NC; passed away Wednesday, February 18th, 2026 in Jefferson, NC.

Ruth was born April 10th, 1952   in Alleghany County to Claude and Ruby Caudill Dancy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents whom she lived with; Edward and Cora Dancy.

Ruth was a member of Pine Fork Baptist Church. She loved the Lord with all of her heart. She cherished her relationship with her grandchildren whom she spent as much time as possible with them. Ruth spent many years working for the Alleghany Sheriff's Department in Emergency Communications.

Survivors include her two children: Eddie Wooten and wife Kim of Sparta, Susan Sines and husband Keith of W. Jefferson; five grandchildren: Joshua Wooten, Kayley Murphy and husband Houston, Avery Sheets, Abigayle Sheets and Aaron Sheets; a great-granddaughter, Noelle Murphy; three brothers: Roger Dancy and wife Christine of Clemmons, Ricky Dancy and wife Jan of Sparta, Billy Dancy and wife Janice of Laurel Springs; a sister, Karen Dancy of Welcome; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.

Funeral Service to honor the life of Ruth will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, February 27th, 2026 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Pastor Mark Wagg officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
