Roger Smith

Roger Smith, age 81, of Ennice, NC; passed away Wednesday, March 5th, 2025 at his residence.

Roger was born December 2nd, 1943 in Alleghany County to the late Garnett and Dora Cheek Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Poole Smith; a sister and brother-in-law, Eva Jean and Orville Duncan; two brothers-in-law: Larry Poole, Austol Youmans. Roger retired from Sara Lee after 40 plus years of service and was also retired from the Glade Creek Volunteer Fire Department.

Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Smith Schaeffer and husband Mike of Galax, VA; a grandson, Ian Schaeffer of Galax, VA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Joyce and Harold Moxley of Murphy, NC, Kaye Youmans of Lexington, SC, Linda Poole of Sparta, Kathy and Lanny Hodge of Thurmond, Gary and Beverly Poole of Sparta; special friend and cousin, Amy Tally of Ennice; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.

Funeral services to honor the life of Roger will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 8th, 2025 at New Haven Covenant Brethren Church with Brother Ed Hall officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
