Roger Lee Cooper, 82, of State Road, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Woltz Hospice Home
in Dobson.
Roger was born Monday, September 1st, 1941, in Surry County to William Granville Cooper and Fairy
Gentry Cooper. Roger retired from Carl Rose Paving Company and was of the Baptist Faith.
He enjoyed old cars and watching westerns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two
sisters, Infant, Rose Wanda Cooper and Lucille &"Cil" Tanner, and brothers, Infant, J.D. Cooper and Benny
Cooper.
Survivors include: son, Charles Lee Cooper and wife, Judy of Glade Valley; daughter, Tammy Maness and
husband Don, of Edgewater, Florida; brother, Billy Cooper of Elkin; sister, Ann Pilgrim of Elkin;
grandchildren, Brooke and husband Eric Shane Fender of Ennice, Tiffany Staley and husband Jesse of
Asheboro; great-grandchildren; Carolenna Fender, Akelea Fender, Harlan Staley and several loving
nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 15th, 2024, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Elkin
Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 P.M. at Elkin Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family would like to thank a special niece, Kathy Hutchens for her care and support to Roger.
