Robert Rex Evans, born December 5th, 1945 in Perryman, Maryland, went home to be with the Lord on September 16th, 2025 after a battle with cancer. He was the son of John Rex and Zola Gladys Cox Evans, and brother to 3 sisters that adored him immensely. They are Doris Evans Novak (of Fort Myers, FL), Janie Elisabeth Miller (of Liberty, NC), and Elaine Dora Evans (who proceeded him to be with the Lord in 2019). He is survived by his wife Mary Pennington Evans and twin sons Bryan and Boyd Evans. Robert was blessed by a full family that loved him including, 3 beautiful granddaughters, Chelsea Marie, Alicyn Taylor, and Faith Morgan Evans. He also had the joy of being a Great Grandfather to 8-month-old Milo Evans-Wood. He was also loved and honored by 3 magnificent nephews, Michael Vanek, Robert Vanek, and Mark Grace. Along with a fantastic Niece, Heather Toth.
Robert (Bob) was a graduate of Bel Air High School in 1964 and then took a job at the Chrysler manufacturing plant in Newark, DE. He then served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era as an MP (Military Police) officer. After discharge he continued with service to law enforcement as an officer in Washington DC. Bob then went to his final job as a lab technician at an aerospace manufacturing facility in Havre De Grace, MD, American Cyanamid. During that same time, he also worked with his son Bryan to establish an auto sales and repair business called Sonshine Motor & Tire Company.
Bob had many passions and enjoyed fast vintage cars and was a terror on a pool table. He was fascinated for years with the 1966 Plymouth Sport Fury and had owned 2 of them throughout his life. In his retirement years he continued to grow his passions with traversing the water ways in his pedal-powered Sea Cycle and tearing up the Pickleball Courts of his Bay Pointe community.
Bob’s biggest and most rewarding passion was his love for the Lord. Through this he has helped countless people which now call him friend. He lived many decades as an ambassador for Christ and had a true heart for spreading God’s Word and helping others.
Funeral services to honor the life of Bob will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 4th, 2025 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Zion Cemetery in Sparta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Bob’s lasting legacy can be summarized by his favorite scripture: “Be Ye Kind To One Another, Tender Hearted, Forgiving One Another, Even as God for Christ’s Sake Has Forgiven You.” Eph. 4:32.
