Rebecca Lynne (Joines) Miller

Rebecca "Becky" Lynne Joines Miller, age 65, of Sparta, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her family. Born on December 30, 1960, in Alleghany County to Rosamond Maines Joines and the late Oscar Cecil "Bill" Joines.

Becky was a farm girl throughout her life. She was known for her kind heart, strength and stubbornness. She faced a courageous battle with cancer with grit and grace, never losing her spirit or her love for those around her. Her resilience was rooted in her deep and unwavering devotion to God; her faith was the compass that guided her through life's joys and sustained her through its trials.

Becky was the long-time Director of the Alleghany County Group Home, where she advocated for those in need. Over the years, she helped countless individuals find dignity, care, and a sense of belonging. When she wasn't serving others, Becky was happiest on her farm. She had a passion for being outside and didn't mind getting a little dirt on her boots. She loved working the land, building fences, and chasing cows. While her family was her world, she often joked that her "favorite child" was her faithful canine companion, Dixie, who remained her constant shadow through her challenging times.

Becky is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, Jeff W. Miller of the home; her mother, Rosamond Maines Joines; and her children, Cory Higgins and wife Jenny of Seattle, WA, and Megan McNary and husband Joshua of Sparta. She is also survived by two step-daughters, Hope Wood and her husband Austin of Galax, VA, and Hollynn Davis and her husband Brice of Sparta; five grandchildren who were the lights of her life: Matthew Wood, Lilly McNary, Tucker Davis, Mack Davis, and Lainey Wood; and a special friend, Vickie McNary of Sparta. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by many loved ones. Becky will be remembered as a pillar of the community, a dedicated caregiver, and a woman of profound faith who fought the good fight and kept the faith until the very end.

Funeral Services to honor the life of Becky will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, May 3rd, 2026 at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship with Reverend Dr. Brian Galyean officiating. Interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery in the Stratford Community of Sparta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence.
