Phyllis Marie (DeBord) Fender

Phyllis Marie DeBord Fender, age 81, of Sparta, NC; passed away Thursday, October 30th, 2025 at Grayson Health and Rehabilitation in Independence, VA.

Phyllis was born March 16th, 1944 in Alleghany County to the late Delton and Anna Belle Phipps DeBord. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her spouses, Jim Brooks and J.R. Fender; a sister, Marcia Meeks; a brother, Charles DeBord; a sister-in-law, Shirley Fender Sturgill.

Survivors include a daughter, Tammy Killon and husband Brian of Ennice; a son, Tim Jones and wife Ronda of Elkin; a granddaughter, Brittney Burchette and husband Casey of Elkin; three great grandchildren: Xavier Householder, Kaylee Burchette, Harper Burchette; four step grandchildren: Wesley Jordan, Shonta Houston, Matthew Ward, Ashley Ward; twelve step great grandchildren; a brother, Ronald DeBord and wife Edith of Ennice; a sister-in-law, Louise DeBord of Lake Mary, FL; a brother-in-law, Don Sturgill of Sparta; sisters and brothers-in-law: Randolph Fender and wife Debbie of Sparta, Barbara Fender; several special nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services to honor the life of Phyllis will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, November 2nd, 2025 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service. Interment will follow in Crab Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
