Peggy Louise (Dowell) McCann

Peggy Dowell McCann, age 77, of 179 Combs Street, Sparta, NC; passed away Friday, May 20th, 2022 at Genesis Alleghany Center in Sparta.

Peggy was born September 14th, 1944 in Alleghany County to the late Victor and Edna Burchette Dowell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Junior Dowell.

Survivors include three brothers: James Dowell and wife Sue of Sparta, Roger Dowell and wife Wanda of Sparta, Billy Dowell and wife Bobbie of Sparta; a sister, Barbara (Bobbie) Dowell and husband George of Laurel Springs; a special niece, Lisa Halsey; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.

A private interment will be held at Whitehead-Joines Cemetery. No formal visitation will be held.

The family would like to thank the staff of Genesis Alleghany Center for their care of Peggy.
