Mya Joanne Bare

Mya Bare, age 5, of 419 Westview Dr., Sparta, NC; passed away Saturday, May 21st, 2022 at Brenner Children's Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC after a lengthy illness.

Mya was one of a kind. Even in her sickest days, she was always happy. She was a fighter and fought to the very end. Born April 12th, 2017 in Forsyth County to Stephanie Dawn Bare and Daniel Colt Wheatley. Preceding her in death was her great-grandparents, Gilbert and Mae Bare, Virginia Bobbitt.

Survivors include her mother, Stephanie Bare of the home; her father, Colt Wheatley of Sparta; a brother, Theo Simmons of the home; maternal grandparents, Robert and Kathy Bare of Sparta; paternal grandmother, Melissa Wheatley; an uncle, Tyler Bare of Sparta; three aunts: Bridget Bare of Sparta, Tiffany Gardner of Sparta, Cherisa Wheatley of Ashe County; extended family and lots of friends also survive.

Funeral Services to honor the life of Mya will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 27th, 2022 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service. Interment will follow at the Moxley Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
