Mitchell Gene Dixon

Mitchell Gene Dixon, age 86, of 1644 Moravian Falls Road, Wilkesboro and formerly of Sparta; passed away Monday, July 28th, 2025 at his residence.

Gene was born February 19th, 1939 in Ashe County to the late Edward and Ocie Miller Dixon Wyrick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Deanna Taylor Dixon; a great grandson, William James Shrader; a sister, Madalene Dixon. He was a member and deacon of Osborne Memorial Missionary Baptist Church. He retired from Nautilus in Independence, Va.

Survivors include his two daughters: Linea Dixon of the home, Shannon Shrader and husband James of Moravian Falls; two granddaughters: Brittany Shrader and William Wilson of Moravian Falls, Lacey Shrader and Oscar Cardozo of Moravian Falls; five great grandchildren: Chance, Willow, Sidney, Virginia and Daniel Wilson all of Moravian Falls; a sister, Lois McNeil of Millers Creek; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Glenda and Mark Lewis of Ashe County; extended family and friends also survive.

Funeral services to honor the life of Gene will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, August 2nd, 2025 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Cranberry Cemetery in Laurel Springs. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
