Elaine was born on July 21, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Floyd “Red” Stephenson and Ruth Olivia McDade Triplett. She later moved with her family to Sparta, North Carolina, where she was raised alongside her four siblings. After graduating from high school, Elaine attended Wilkes Community College, where she earned her nursing degree.

During her college years, she met the love of her life, Curtis Miller. The two were married and began their life together in Tacoma, Washington, where Curtis served as an aircraft mechanic in the United States Air Force. Following his honorable discharge, they returned to North Carolina and settled in the family home in Laurel Springs. There, both Elaine and Curtis became deeply involved in their community, particularly through the local Fire Department, where Elaine served as both a First Responder and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary.

Elaine’s life was guided by her strong faith and her deep love for family, friends, and serving others. She was a devoted follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and an active member of her church community. She served faithfully as an elder at Laurel Fork Presbyterian Church and as a Deaconess at Mt. Carmel Covenant Brethren Church.

After retiring from her nursing career, Elaine cherished spending her winters in Florida with Curtis, where they enjoyed fishing together.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Wade Miller and her brother Wayne Triplett. She is survived by her two daughters; Christy Dawn Edwards and son-in-law Brian of State Road, NC, and Kelly Miller Farmer and son-in-law Joel of Clayton, NC, and three siblings; Caroline Caudill and husband Bill of Harvest, Alabama, Becky Hall of Sparta, and Tom Triplett and wife Corine, of Jenks, OK.
