Marie (Brooks) Choate

Marie Brooks Choate, age 98, of 281 Andrews Ridge Road, Sparta; passed away, Monday, May 30th, 2022 at her residence.

Marie was born December 28th, 1923 in Alleghany County, to the late Tyre Glen and Faye Evans Brooks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elgin Choate; a sister, Blanche Richardson; a brother, Ralph Brooks.

Survivors include her children: Bonnie Zuber and husband Calvin of China Spring, TX, Dorothy Wagoner and husband Jack of Sparta, Keith Choate of Black Mountain, NC; Sandra Towns and husband Jody of Maryville, TN, Kaye Royall and husband Ben of Sparta; two grandchildren: Chad Billings, Bretta Gardner; a great-granddaughter, Cydnie Gardner; several nieces, nephews, and extended family also survive.

Funeral Services to honor the life of Marie will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, June 3rd, 2022 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Brother Ed Hall officiating. Internment will follow at Sparta Cemetery . The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home and other times at the home of Ben and Kaye Royall, 163 Alleghany Manor Rd., Sparta, NC 28675.
