Margaret Ellen (Pilkins) Smith

Margaret Ellen Pilkins Smith, age 78, of 1572 Piney Creek School Rd., Piney Creek, NC; passed away at 8:37 pm Monday, June 14th, 2021 at Genesis Alleghany Center in Sparta.

Margaret was born October 5th, 1942 in Yadkinville, NC., to the late James Reece and Lena Catherine Idol Pilkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Pilkins, a sister Thelma Suitt, and two grandchildren: Terry Vaughn Krysztowski and Justin Clay Smith. Margaret spent most of her adult life living in Churchville, MD., and was employed as a Registered Nurse at the Perry Point VA Medical Center for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Carlis Clay Smith; her four children: Carla Marie Edwards and husband Stephen, Gregory Keith Smith and wife JoAnn, Christopher Clay Smith, and Melody Leigh Gardner; her grandchildren: Gregory Warren Smith and wife Rebecca, Michael Tyler Smith and wife Tiffany, and Megan Elizabeth Osinski and husband Matt; her great-grandchildren: Tyler Smith, Alyssa Smith, Luke Pyle, Henry Michael Osinski, Olivia Noel Smith; her siblings: Patricia Snow and Elizabeth Scarlette.

Funeral Services to honor the life of Margaret will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, June 18th, 2021 in the Chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with the Reverend Eric Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Piney Creek UMC Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

A family reunion dinner will be served following the committal service at the residence.
