Machell Joines Rash, age 51, of Sparta, North Carolina peacefully passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
She was born May 17, 1970, in New Carrollton, Maryland to Lonnie Dale and Linda Ann (Workman) Joines and was preceded in death by one son, Brian Michael, who passed away shortly after being born.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis Rash, her parents, two sisters, Khristina Fielder (Joe) and Andrea Eastridge (Grady); two sons, Michael and Dillon Sheets; one stepdaughter, Rachel Greiser; one niece, Della Fielder; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Machell was an independent person who unashamedly lived life on her own terms. She pulled no punches, and you never had to wonder what was on her mind. She had friends from all walks of life and met them all with laughter and affection. Her relationships could be complicated, and some of the people she loved most didn’t always know how much they meant to her.
Machell loved music. Her encyclopedic knowledge of the band Bon Jovi would have qualified her to be the curator of their museum. She was a crafter and loved to create and make personal mementos, which she freely gave to friends and family. She was an occasional author, who wrote a self-published work of supernatural fiction. She was a storyteller, often the hero of her own stories, and you'd always leave her with a reminder of something funny/crazy she did while you were with her.
Machell was generous with what she had. In fact, she would give you anything you asked for, even if it wasn’t hers to give. She served as the chaplain of the VFW Auxiliary Post 7034, and she could make you laugh, even when you were mad at her.
She was much loved and leaves a gap with no one like her to fill it.
