Louise Arlene (Foley) Atkinson

Louise Arlene (Foley) Atkinson, age 73 of Sparta; passed away Monday, September 18th, 2023 at Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Independence, VA.

Louise was a retired nurse with Yadkin Nursing Care Center in Yadkinville, NC. She enjoyed her family and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

Louise was born September 5th, 1950 in Beckley, WV to the late Leonard Alvis and Pauline Cox Foley, Sr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Atkinson; a brother, Alvis Foley, Jr.; a grandson, Byron Johnson; a brother-in-law, Jake Puckett.

Survivors include two children: Billie Hernandez and Jeri Atkinson-Piasta, both of Sparta; seven grandchildren: Elena Hernandez, Reyna Hernandez, Nathaniel Hernandez, Austin Hernandez, Eric Ramirez and wife Crystal, Isaac Piasta and fiancee Hailie Sheets, Sierra Piasta, Devin Brown; twelve great-grandchildren: Connor, Abigael, Dylan, Aaliyah, Sofia, Amilia, Peyton, Trey, Ayden, Grayson, Mia, Leilani; three sisters: Barbara Puckett of Pilot Mountain, Kathy Monroe (Michael) of WV, Patsy Mathis (Denver) of Germanton, NC. Several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.

Memorial Services to honor the life of Louise will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 1st, 2023 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Pastor Eddie Wooten officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Thomas Family Funeral Service, PO Box 114, Sparta, NC 28675 to assist the family with funeral expenses.
