Lorene (Johnson) Brooks

Lorene Johnson Crouse Brooks, 89, of Ennice, NC; passed away Friday, April 2nd, 2021 at Pruitt Health of Elkin, NC. She was born June 9th, 1931 in Alleghany County to the late Henry Jack Johnson and Alma Dickens Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Otis Johnson and Bill Johnson; a son, Bobby Joe Crouse.

Lorene is survived by a daughter, Betty Jo Crouse Long and husband Roland Shorty Long of Ennice, NC; four grandchildren: Bobby Crouse and wife Debbie of Galax, VA., Travis Long and wife Rebecca of N. Wilkesboro, NC., Dusty Long and wife Stephanie of Galax, VA., Angie Brooks and husband Danny of Laurel Springs, NC; seven great-grandchildren: Holly Crouse, Jordan Crouse and wife Taylor, Braxton Long, Joah Long, Brody Long, Matt Brooks, and Megan Brooks; two great great-grandchildren: Colton and Everly Brooks; a brother, Robert Mack Johnson and wife Treva of Cana, VA; two sisters: Eva Sue Crouse of Ennice, NC., Gnell Carpenter of Rockwell, NC; a sister-in-law, Imogene Johnson of Sparta, NC; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services to honor the life of Lorene will held at 3:00 pm Monday, April 5th, 2021 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Brother Hugh Miller, Elder Gwyn Hamm and Reverend Russell Sheets officiating. Interment will follow at Saddle Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
