Lonnie Clay Halsey of 961 Osborne Rd, Sparta passed away August 4, 2020. He was born on July 7, 1963 to the late Myrtle Moxley Halsey and Carlile Halsey.
He was a happy, spirited, kind soul who would do anything he could to help anyone who needed it. He was always joking, laughing, and cutting up. He knew not to take life too seriously.
He faced many obstacles in his life. Most recently surviving cancer for the second time. He never let it get him down. He always looked to the bright side of any situation.
Lonnie was a man of many talents, but his favorite role was that of Papaw. He loved his children and grandchildren Unconditionally and without bounds.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Myrtle Halsey, and brothers Carlile Halsey Jr and Carlos Halsey.
He is survived by his father, Carlile Halsey of Sparta, his wife Christy Halsey of the home. Four sons; Eddie Halsey (Hannah Halsey) of Sparta, Jason Halsey (Niki Calhoun) of Winston, David Halsey (Kayla Joines) of Sparta, and Dean Galyean (Jenni Galyean) of Glade Valley. One daughter, Jade Castevens (Shane Castevens) of Sparta. Two brothers; Ronnie Halsey (Dawn Halsey) of Cherry Lane, Danny Halsey (Crystal Halsey) of Sparta. One sister, Betty “Sissy” Williams (Mark Hummel) of Sparta. Eight beloved grandchildren: Brett & Levi Calhoun of Winston, Emma & Evan Halsey of Sparta, Addi & Izzy Castevens of Sparta, Noah Halsey of Sparta, and Kason Galyean of Glade Valley. Many nieces, nephews, and children of the heart.
Celebration of life services will be held Saturday August 8, 2020 at 12:00 at Una’s River Bottom. We are asking that anyone who wants to share a memory or story to please do so.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help cover funeral and medical expenses.
