Lois (Brooks) Edwards

Lois Brooks Edwards, age 90 of Sparta; passed away Tuesday, June 9th, 2026 at the home of her son in Yemassee, SC.

Lois was born June 15th, 1935 in Alleghany County, NC to the late Curtis and Blanche Royal Brooks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W. Paul Edwards; three brothers: Reeves, Edwin and Cecil Brooks; a sister, Marie Pruitt.

Lois was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Sparta for many years. She was very active in her community volunteering with several different organizations, playing in the bowling league and serving as an officer with the Alleghany Quilters Guild.

Survivors include two sons: William C. "Bill" Edwards (Julie Beth) of Yemassee, SC, Michael P. Edwards (Rhoda) of Thurmond, NC; five grandchildren: Cole Edwards (Makayla) of Yadkinville, NC, Troy Edwards, Ethan Edwards both of Thurmond, NC, Jonathan Belotti (Alyssa) of Farmville, VA, Samantha Slade (Chris) of Norfolk, VA; a step granddaughter, Baylie Bailey (Jeffrey) of Ennice, NC; three great grandchildren: Luciano Belotti, Jaylon Slade and Kairo Slade; two brothers: J.D. Brooks (Lorraine) of Laurel Springs, NC, Wade Brooks (Susan) of Katy, TX; a sister, Treva Bridges (Albert) of Matthews, NC; a sister-in-law, Beulah Brooks of Sparta; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.

Funeral Services to honor the life of Lois will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, June 20th, 2026 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Brother Ed Hall and Reverend Ricky Crosby officiating. Interment will follow at Sparta Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Friday, June 19th, 2026 at the funeral home.
