Leroy Brown

Leroy Brown, age 80, of 126 Honeysuckle Lane, Glade Valley, NC; passed away Wednesday, March 15th, 2023 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.

Leroy was a member of Elk Spur Baptist Church at Stone Mountain. He loved his horses, horseback riding and enjoyed farming.

Leroy was born January 30th, 1943 in Wilkes County to the late Haywood Friel and Esther Faye Higgins Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Bert, Lonnie, and Bill Brown; six sisters: Mary Jane Brown, Irene Vannoy, Alene Vannoy, Thelma Brown, Lizzie Shupe, and Shirley Wall.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Alice Brown of the home; four children: Michael Lee Brown and wife Amanda, Dania Ruppard and husband Mack, Randy Brown and wife Jodie, Chris Brown and wife Rosita all of Glade Valley; ten grandchildren: Derek Brown (Tonya), Mary Gambill (Brad), Mack Ruppard II ( Nicole), Taylor Jennings (Matthew), Madison Long (Clay), Conner Brown, Chris Tibbs (Crystal), Carmen Tibbs, Austin Brown; six great-grandchildren; four sisters: Mary Waddell, Kay Osborne, Dorothy Edwards (Coy), Louise Royall (Don Ray); many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.

Funeral Services to honor the life of Leroy will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, March 18th, 2023 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Brother Ed Hall and Pastor Lonnie Wayne Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Rich Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of Mack and Dania Ruppard, 276 Honeysuckle Lane, Glade Valley, NC 28627.
