Kirby Joel Seal

Kirby Joel Seal, age 85 of Sparta, NC; passed away Monday, June 22nd, 2026 at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC.

Kirby was born August 29th, 1940 in Franklinton, LA to the late Samuel and Beatrice Spinks Seal. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a wife, Juanita Williams Seal; a son, Joe Seal; a daughter, Angie Petty; several sisters and brothers; two great grandchildren: Gracie and Ashlyn. He was member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church and the Sparta Masonic Lodge #423 AF & AM.

Survivors include his wife of 9 years, Dot Phipps Seal of the home; three children: Debbie Williams (Robert) of Sparta, NC, Jay Seal (Bambie) of Ruston, LA, Mike Petty (Tracy) of Sparta, NC; a step son, David Lyon (Tammy) of Jacksonville, NC; six grandchildren: Heath Williams (Veronica) of Sparta, NC, Heather Vannoy (Rock) of Millers Creek, NC, Megan Lott of Ruston, LA, Jacob Seal of Ruston, LA, Wendy Talley (Joseph) of Lexington, NC, Justin Lyon (Tabitha) of Springfield, VA; eleven great grandchildren.

Funeral services to honor the life of Kirby will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 26th, 2026 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Reverend Mark Carico and Pastor Dale Baugus officiating. Interment will follow at Antioch Primitive Baptist Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by the US Air Force and the Bruce Wayne Osborne VFW Post #7034 of Sparta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
