Kathryn Cora (Miller) Joines

Kathryn Cora Miller Joines, age 96, of Sparta, NC; passed away Monday, March 7th, 2022 at Genesis Alleghany Center in Sparta.

Kathryn was born November 11th, 1925 in Ashe County, NC to the late Sid and Blanche Woodie Miller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clay Joines; two sisters, Lorraine Robinson and Opal Mitchell; a son-in-law, Bobby Joe Gambill; a daughter-in-law, Patsy Joines. Kathryn worked as a Waitress at Doughton Park Coffee Shop for sixty years, retiring at the age of 85.

Survivors include three children: Edwin Joines of Sparta, Susie Gambill of Sparta, Jimmy Joines and Betty Sharpe of Sparta; six grandchildren: Karen Evans and husband Sammy, Chuck Wagoner and wife Tracy, Greg Gambill and wife Stacy, Kristen Gambill, Bradford Gambill and wife Mary Beth, Craig Joines and wife Leann; eleven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and many extended family members also survive.

Funeral Services to honor the life of Kathryn will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday March 10th, 2022 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Brother Hugh Miller and Reverend Jeffrey Bumgarner officiating. Interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery in the Stratford Community of Sparta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of Susie Gambill, 609 Shiloh Church Road, Sparta, NC 28675.
