June (Tompkins) Medley

Carole (June) Tomkins Medley, age 80 of Sparta; passed away Wednesday, April 8th, 2026 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in Winston-Salem, NC.

June was born December 31, 1945 in Alleghany County, NC to the late Porter Reed and Thelma Carico Tompkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Maxine Carter; brothers-in-law, Larry Carter and Lonnie Rose.

June was a member of Savannah Church. She loved Square Dancing, flowers of any kind, Sudoku puzzles and watching Rodeo; she never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a hug and a smile.

Survivors include two children: Marsha Hudson and husband Tim, Phillip Medley and wife Becky all of Ennice, NC; five grandchildren: Haley Hayworth and husband Richie, Cort Hudson and wife Katie, Troy Hudson all of Ennice, NC, Jake Medley, Josh Medley both of Galax, VA; six great grandchildren: Harper and Hudson Hayworth, Marley, Rylin and Carter Hudson, Owen Medley; three sisters: Frances Rose of Kernersville, NC, Mildred Billings and husband Jackie of Sparta, NC, Marlene Williams and husband John of Sparta; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.

Funeral Services to honor the life of June will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, April 11th, 2026 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Pastor Eli Carico officiating. Interment will follow at Glade Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
