Judith Ann Wright Maines, of Sparta, NC, went home to be with Jesus on March 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born inside her parents' home on April 2, 1945, in Ivanhoe, Virginia, to Sherman Eugene Wright and Connie Louverna Handy Wright. Judith was preceded in death by her parents; her infant daughter, Angela Maines; her brother, Douglas Wright; and her sister, Doris Davis.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Floyd Harrison Maines, of the home, and her three sons: Terry Maines and wife, Sherry Maines, of Ennice, NC; Tim Maines, of Sparta, NC; and Bryan Maines and wife, Beth Maines, of Sparta, NC. She was a beloved grandmother to six grandchildren: Corey Maines and wife, Courtney Maines, of Sparta, NC; Josie Maines, of Ennice, NC; Jeb Maines, of Ennice, NC; Krysti Maines, of Charlotte, NC; Leah Delp, of Sparta, NC; and Ivan Delp, of Sparta, NC. She was also blessed with two great-granddaughters, Diana Grace Maines and Ayla Hope Maines, both of Sparta, NC. Judith is also survived by her siblings: Darhlene Holland, of Roanoke, VA; Jerry Wright, of Independence, VA; Barry Wright, of Ivanhoe, VA; Garry Wright and wife, Rhonda Wright, of Ivanhoe, VA; Tammy Jackson and husband, Ray Jackson, of Conneaut, OH; and Terry Gricson and husband, Bill Gricson, of Indiana. In addition to her immediate family, she also leaves behind many other surviving relatives whom she dearly loved.
Judith loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart and faithfully lived out her faith. She was the heart of her family, always putting the needs of her loved ones above her own. She found joy in cooking and spending time with her family, creating cherished memories that will live on in their hearts. Her kindness, deep love, and unwavering devotion to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the hallmarks of her life. She also loved crafting with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, treasuring the time spent creating together. It appeared that she had sacrificed all of her hopes, dreams, and aspirations for her family. This is true, but inside her heart, it wasn't a sacrifice. Her greatest goal in life was to give herself completely to ensure that everyone else could accomplish their dreams. With that, she was complete inside. She taught us to respect others, to love unconditionally, and to serve with a willing heart. She showed us that kindness has no boundaries-welcoming and caring for others regardless of where they came from, what they had, or who they were. Through her life, she inspired us to love selflessly, serve wholeheartedly and to always strive to do the right thing.
