John David Brooks

Johnny "David" Brooks, age 77 of Piney Creek, NC; passed away on Saturday, May 10th, 2025 at his residence.

David was born January 23rd, 1948 in Mobile, AL to the late Johnny Edward and Melba Hobbs Brooks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William "Bill" Edward Brooks. David loved his grandchildren and enjoyed fishing and boating.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Shirley W. Brooks; a son, David Monroe Brooks and wife Claire of Sparta; a brother-in-law, Danny Wingler of Piney Creek; two grandchildren: Allie Brooks of Sparta, Jake Brooks of Sparta; special friend, Mary Ellen Morgan of Laurel Springs; honorary grandchild, Eli Prevette; several nieces, nephews, extended family also survive.

Funeral services to honor the life of David will be held on Wednesday, May 14th, 2025 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Pastor Doug Combs officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
