John Reeves "J.R." Fender

John Reeves "J.R." Fender, age 81 of 4342 Ridgeglen Road, Sparta, NC; passed away Thursday, November 11th, 2021 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC.

J.R. was born December 29, 1939 in Alleghany County to the late Reid John and Annie Smith Fender. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Reid Fender.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Phyllis DeBord Fender of the home; a daughter, Teresa Fender; a step-daughter, Tammy Killon and husband Brian of Ennice; a step-son, Tim Jones and wife Ronda of Elkin; a sister, Shirley Fender Sturgill and husband Don of Sparta; a brother, Randolph Fender and wife Debbie of Sparta; a sister-in-law, Barbara Fender; two daughters: Tori Thomas of Saltville, VA, Brittney Burchette and husband Casey of Traphill; two great-grandchildren: Xavier and Kaylee; nieces, nephews and extended family and friends also survive.

Funeral Services to honor the life of J.R. will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, November 14th, 2021 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Reverend John Attaway and Pastor Matt Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Crab Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
