John Willie Brooks

John Willie Brooks, age 86 of 2164 Scenic Valley Road, Glade Valley, NC; passed away Tuesday, February 21st, 2023 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in Winston-Salem, NC.

John was born March 26th, 1936 in Alleghany County to the late Connelly and Edna Caudill Brooks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Garland Brooks; two sisters: Mary Ann Lane and Bertha Carrick.

Survivors include his wife Lucy Nell Baugus Brooks of the home; a daughter, Teresa Hamm and husband Richard of Sparta; two grandchildren: Jana Bare and husband Matthew of Glade Valley, Miranda Roupe and husband Zak of Sparta; four great-grandchildren: Isaac Bare and fiancee Kayla Dixon, Austin Bare and girlfriend, Ally Hanson, Addilynn Roupe, and Mallory Roupe; a great-great grandson, Bransin Dixon; four sisters: Marie Long of Sparta, Juanita Sidden of Sparta, Nancy Caudill of Sparta, Elva Hawkins of Whitehead; two brothers: Ernest Brooks and wife Judy of Sparta, Donnelly Brooks and wife Barbara of Laurel Springs; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.

Funeral Services to honor the life of John will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 23rd, 2023 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Pastor Mark Wagg officiating. Interment will follow at Rich Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
