Joe David Brannock, age 77, of 130 Brannock Lane in Ennice, NC; passed away Tuesday, April 12th, 2022 at Alleghany Health in Sparta, NC.
Joe was born March 10th, 1945 in Alleghany County to the late Paul and Lucille Smith Brannock. He served his country in the 82nd Airborne of United States Army. After leaving the military, he was proud that he was able to obtain his Private Pilots License and become a Flight Instructor. Joe was a member of Saddle Mountain Union Baptist Church. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his friends at Saddle Mountain Cafe.
Survivors include two children: Wes Brannock and wife Heather of Ennice, Jackie Surratt and husband Jimmy of Hillsville, VA; eight grandchildren: Brett Brannock, Tucker Bobbitt, Griffin Dalton, Jase Dalton, Landri Dalton, Ilyn Surratt, Hadden Jones and Kimberlyn Jones; a great-granchild, Zayden; his best friend, Michael Delp.
Funeral Services to honor the life of Joe will be held at 11:00 am Friday, April 15th, 2022 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Brother Hugh Miller, Pastor Phil Edwards and Jody Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow at Edmonds Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Bruce Wayne Osborne VFW Post# 7034 of Sparta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of Wes and Heather Brannock, 87 Edmonds Road, Ennice, NC 28623.
