Joann (Denny) Murray

Joann Denny Murray, age 80, of 402 Maple Street, Sparta, NC; passed away Monday, May 2nd, 2022 at Margate Health and Rehab in Jefferson, NC.

Joann was born October 16th, 1941 in Ashe County to the late Dwight and Virginia Emma Hartsoe Denny. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Greer.

Survivors include her husband, Walter Earl Murray of the home; three children: Kenneth Walter Murray and wife Tammy of Walkertown, NC, a daughter, Teresa Sugg and husband Roddy of Winston-Salem, NC; a son, Danny Murray of Sparta; five grandchildren: Jennifer Zimmerman (Adam), Jason Murray (Melissa), Shannon Watson (Jamie), Maygen Sechrest (Josh), and Jordan Murray (Katie); eight great-grandchildren; a niece and a nephew also survive.

Graveside Services to honor the life of Joann will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 5th, 2022 at Shiloh UMC Cemetery with Reverend Jeff Vogler officiating. No formal visitation will be held.
