Joann S. Bottomley, age 81, of Ennice; passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 13th, 2023 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin, NC.
Joann's heart was as warm and soft as her biscuits. The kind, loving heart that always greeted you with a smile. There were no strangers, just friends and neighbors passing by for a chat. Joann's greatest accomplishments were being the most amazing Mother and Grandmother a child could ever have. Her family and friends adored her well-known delicious green beans, with taters on top, and those warm, soft biscuits. She always had a chair at the table for you. Joann took great pleasure in knowing everyone loved her cooking. Now, she's enjoying a feast at the marriage supper of the lamb.
Joann was born March 23rd, 1942 in Surry County to the late Jack and Lora Billings Spicer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Maggie Phillips.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Bobby Bottomley of the home; three children: William Bottomley and wife Janet of Ennice, Charles Burgess and wife Lori of Mt. Airy, Brenda Sparks and husband Charles of Spruce Pine; five grandchildren: Tyler Bottomley of Ennice, Lauren Cox of Pilot Mountain, Randall Meyerhoffer of Spruce Pine, LeAnn Fulbright of Spruce Pine, Adam Burgess of Sparta; four great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; two sisters: Erlene Cox of Winston-Salem, Kathy Craver and husband Charles of Clemmons; two brothers: Larry Spicer and wife Jennie of Statesville, Gerald Spicer and wife Diane of Austin; special friends and neighbors; Jackie Bare, Randy Poole and Ronnie Presnell; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.
