James Miles Obituary
James Miles, age 75, of 1188 Camp Cheerio Road, Glade Valley, NC; passed away Friday, May 7th, 2021 at his residence.
James was born November 10th, 1945 in Alleghany County to the late Fred Grady Miles and Ruby Jane Brown Miles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Grady Miles and Alfred Miles; four sisters: Margie Andrews, Peggy Hinshaw, Ethel Davis and Betty Jane Miles; a half-brother, George Franklin Brown.
James was a member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Cherry Lane. He was the Caretaker for Camp Cheerio for over 50 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed working in his garden.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Judy Presnell Miles of the home; three children: Tammy Miles Choate and husband Jim, Cathy Miles Murray and husband Dennis, and Mark Steven Miles and wife Lisa all of Glade Valley; six grandchildren: Daniel Murray and wife Courtney, Jonathan Murray and Kayla Wiles, Hannah Murray, Lanea Mabe and husband Matt, Cody Joines, and Austin Miles; three great-grandsons: Caden Murray, Brody Murray, and Will Mabe; a brother, George Miles; a sister, Betty Toliver and husband John; special niece and spouse, Debbie and Harold Haynes; two sisters-in-law: Judith Miles of Glade Valley and Vivian Brown; several nieces, nephews and extended family also survive.
Graveside services to honor the life of James will be held at 3:30 pm on Saturday, May 8th, 2021 at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Cherry Lane with Pastor Justin Bauguess and Pastor Roger Jennings officiating. No formal visitation will be held but you are welcome to visit at the home during reasonable calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
