JM Tucker, age 92, of Laurel Springs, NC; passed away Thursday, June 6th, 2024 at his home.
JM was born May 3rd, 1932 in Ashe County, NC to the late John M. and Virgil Fender Tucker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Michael Tucker; two brothers: Howard Tucker and Franklin Tucker; a sister, Mary Rose.
Anyone who knew JM, knew that he was a hard worker. He was the Owner/Operator of JM Tucker Lime and Fertilize, and a cattle farmer for all his life. He was the first in Alleghany and Ashe Counties to own a self propelled chopper to cut corn and the first to own a four wheel drive spreader. Farming was his life, and he loved sharing it with his family. His children and grandchildren enjoyed many days with him in the hayfields and working cattle. JM took his work seriously, but he knew how to have fun. His little quirks like moving his ears, love for all things sweet, and joy of taking pictures in nature, are just a few of the many memories we all hold dear.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 73 years, Jacqueline Williams Tucker of the home; a son, Randy Tucker and wife LuAnn of Laurel Springs; three grandchildren: Patrick Tucker and wife Julie of Sparta, Jenny LeMasters and husband Justin of Sparta, Micha Tucker of Jefferson; six great-grandchildren: Lucy, Mack, and John LeMasters of Sparta, Trick Tucker of Sparta, Brooklyn Delp of High Point, Jaclyn Greer of Jefferson; a brother, Charles Tucker and wife Katy of Laurel Springs; a sister-in-law, Nancy Tucker of Laurel Springs; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.
Funeral Services to honor the life of JM will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, June 8th, 2024 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Elder Alan Church and Brother Hugh Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Double Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
