Irene (Hodge) Jones

Irene Hodge Jones, age 82, of 18 Crouse Lane, Glade Valley, NC; passed away Monday, March 13th, 2023 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.

Irene was a member of Full Gospel Church of Sparta. She along with her husband Frank served in the ministry for over 46 years. After the passing of Frank, she spoke daily of her hearts desire to meet him and have his loving arms wrapped around her. They both kept the faith until their last breath here on this earth. She cared for many children in her home over the years and as a "Prayer Warrior", she prayed for them and anyone in need of prayer daily and would spend hours on the phone with those requesting her prayers.

Irene was born December 14th, 1940 in Alleghany County to the late Luther and Izettia Cook Hodge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Frank R. Jones; two sisters: Maxine Brinegar and Kathryn Anders; two brothers: J.M. Hodge and Charlie Hodge.

Survivors include two children: Roger Jones and wife Elsie of Sparta, Donna Hamm and husband Randy of Sparta; her canine companion, Buddy; four grandchildren: Joey Jones and wife Alisha of Laurel Springs, Cody Hamm of Sparta, Zach Hamm of Sparta and Riley of Sparta; three great-grandchildren: Tyson Jones, Charlie Jones and Meadow Hamm; a brother, Jimmy Hodge and wife Patsy of Sparta; two step-grandchildren: April Eastridge and husband Jody of Winston-Salem, Beth Maines and husband Bryan of Sparta; four step great-grandchildren: Savannah, Leah, Ivan and Lyndsey; a sister-in-law, Bobbie Sprinkle of Sparta; a special niece, Kimberly Sowers; nieces, nephews, extended family and her church family also survive.

Funeral Services to honor the life of Irene will be held at Full Gospel Church of Sparta at 1:00 pm Saturday, March 18th, 2023 with Reverend Mike Ferree, Reverend John Godfrey, Reverend Cecil Hamby and Brothers Randy Hamm and Cody Hamm officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh UMC Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
