Imogene "Jean" (Carpenter) Edwards

Imogene "Jean" C. Edwards, age 91, of Sparta; passed away Monday, April 25th, 2022 at The Landings of Chestnut Grove in Sparta, NC.

Jean was born May 28th, 1930 in Alleghany County to the late Clay and Lula Blevins Carpenter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Chap Edwards; a sister, Anna Lee Ausley; three brothers: James Edwin Carpenter, Olen Carpenter, and Wayne Carpenter.

Jean enjoyed cooking, gardening her flowers and taking care of her roses. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Sparta.

Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Poole and husband Gary of Sparta; two grandchildren: Jerad Poole of Charlotte, Brittney P. Wyatt and husband Brandon of Cornelius; a great-grandson, Royce Wyatt; a sister, Kathleen Edwards of Wilkesboro; a special cousin, Bill Blevins and wife Peggy of Sparta; several nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends also survive.

Funeral Services to honor the life of Jean will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, May 2nd, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Sparta with Pastors Matt Harris and John Attaway officiating. Interment will follow at Sparta Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
