Imogene (Brinegar) Cantler

Imogene Brinegar Cantler, age 84, of Laurel Springs, NC; passed away Tuesday, April 8th, 2025 at Atrium Health Pineville Hospital in Charlotte, NC.

Imogene was born July 23rd, 1940 in Alleghany County to the late Robert and Clyde Billings Brinegar. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward Cantler; four sisters: Emmalou Crouse, Joann Johnson, Georgia Ruth Schumate, Edna Marie Brinegar; two brothers: Louis Brinegar, Gladys Brinegar. Imogene was a member of Sparta Church of God where she was the choir director. She loved God and her church family. Imogene enjoyed gardening, canning, and was an avid seamstress. She loved her family, especially her baby boy, Eddie.

Survivors include five children: Norma Billings and husband Thomas of Wilkesboro, Terry Sine of Wilkesboro, Jeanette Franc and husband Jay of Baltimore, MD, Lisa Kenney and husband Michael of Sykesville, MD, Ed Cantler and wife Michelle of Belcamp, MD; five grandchildren: Josh Franc, Amanda Noppinger, Nick Sine, Blair Cantler, Allison Patrick ; five great-grandchildren; three sisters: Rose Lee Sturgill of Sparta, Nancy Ratcliff of Sparta, Jackie Stanley of Laurel Springs; two brothers: Robert Brinegar of Glade Valley, Ricky Brinegar; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.

Funeral services to honor the life of Imogene will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, April 12th, 2025 at Sparta Church of God with Pastor Doug Combs officiating. Interment will follow in New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
