Gregory Steven Wright

Gregory Steven Wright, age 63 of the Vox Community in Alleghany County passed on to his Heavenly home on November 11, 2025 after a brief illness. 

“Greg” was born on May 13th 1962 in Sparta. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Miller Wright, his sister Rebecca Wright and his father Robert L Wright. 

Greg was a determined, hardworking perfectionist who applied these principles to every task. As a builder, he approached each job, small or large, with his attention to detail. He was an outdoorsman who loved all nature, fishing on the New River and caring for his cattle. As a friend he would do anything in his power to help out and he had ample talents to share. 

He loved the Lord and His amazing creation. Though faced with life’s adversities, his Faith was solid, his complaints unuttered. 

His concern, brilliance and dry wit will be terribly missed by all those who loved him dearly. 

Greg is survived by an uncle, Robert Miller (Janet and girls), Raleigh, NC, cousins; Mark Irwin (Kate), Phillip Irwin (Chris), Waynette Church (Baily and Bryson), Tammy Miller, Bridgette Miller and Robin Wright. He is also survived by his extended family; Milly, Betty and John (Linda) Richardson, Javier and Kelly Luna, sons Samuel, Diego and Isaac, Sharon and Darren Cranford and Linda Huff. Many other close friends also survive. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, November 21st, 2025 at the Thomas Family Funeral Service Chapel in Sparta. Visitation will be at 12 noon with the service to follow at 1pm. A private graveside service will be held. 

Memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 325, Dobson, NC 27017, Zion Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in care of Marth Lineberry, 82 Lineberry Lane, Sparta, NC 28675, or the charity of one’s choice.
