Grace Elizabeth (Jones) Mabe

Grace Jones Mabe, age 94, of 1333 Elk Knob Road, Laurel Springs, NC; passed away Monday, August 15th, 2022 at her residence.

Grace was born August 23rd, 1927 in Alleghany County to the late Bryant and Jessie Church Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Elbert Mabe; a son, Russell Allen Mabe; a brother, Richard Jones; a sister, Hazel Darnell; a great-grandson, Drayton Cook.

Grace was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and even a great-great grandmother, and enjoyed spending her time with family. She was a very hard worker in her community, she was an organizer for the start of Laurel Springs Volunteer Fire Department and Auxiliary; a member of Osborne Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include her three children: Patsy Epting and husband Leland of Newberry, SC, Don Mabe and Fiance Cynthia of the home, Spencer Mabe and wife Betty of Cleveland, GA; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a daughter-in-law, Linda Mabe of Hays; nieces, nephews extended family and friends also survive.

Funeral Services to honor the life of Grace will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, August 19th, 2022 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Reverend Wayne Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Cranberry Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

The family would like to thank Tracy Walton and all of the staff of Medi-Home Hospice of Alleghany; her caregiver, Elsie Barr; Jeff Blevins for being her special friend and providing grave services as a last and final gift to her.
