It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Glenna Blevins Atwood, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother whose hands and heart shaped so many lives. Glenna passed on October 11, 2025, at 11:11pm while a resident of the Landings of Chestnut Grove, in Sparta, NC.
Glenna was a generational expert seamstress whose talent and precision brought beauty and warmth into countless homes. She was also a dedicated poultry farmer, nurturing life with the same care and patience she gave to her family. In the kitchen, her cooking was the kind that drew people together – comforting, generous, and made with love in every bite.
But, above all, Glenna was a mother first. Her greatest joy and purpose were found in raising and loving her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She built her family’s world with kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion. She taught by example what it meant to love fully and live with grace.
Glenna began her walk with the Lord when she was 22 years old and quickly became a pearl of great price. “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her”. – Proverbs 31:26-28
Glenna is survived by Husband of 30 years - Don Atwood; Children – Deana DeBord (husband Tim DeBord), Daryl Blevins (wife Ronda Blevins), Nicole Blevins, Allan Atwood (wife Barbara Atwood); Grand Children include Tanner DeBord (wife Leah), Jessica Kilby (husband Cameron), Erin Sims (husband Chavis), Summer Hall (husband Zack), Autumn Billings (husband Jerimiah); Great Grandchildren include Chayton Sims, Maddox Sims, Karson Kilby, Kaiden Kilby, Jonas DeBord, Oakley Hall; a brother, Richard Nichols.
Glenna is preceded by husband of 22 years, Carl Dean Blevins; her parents, Oscar and Lois Cleary Nichols.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that the lessons she shared, the love she gave, and the memories she created, will live on in every one of them.
Funeral Services to honor the life of Glenna will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 15th, 2025 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Tim DeBord and family officiating. Interment will follow at Sparta Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of Daryl and Ronda Blevins.
