Gertrude Mae (Brooks) Crouse

Gertrude Brooks Crouse, age 92, of Sparta, passed away Wednesday, February 22nd 2023 at SECU Hospice Center in Yadkinville, NC.

Gertrude was born May 22nd, 1930 in Alleghany County, NC to the late Lawnie "Lon" Harrison and Bessie Baugus Brooks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Lonzo Crouse; a son, Randy Crouse; two brothers: Lacy Howard Brooks, Clayton Lon Brooks; three sisters: Eva Campbell, Pawnee Choate and Lorene Presnell.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Massey and husband Jim of Roaring Gap; three grandchildren: Heather Koz and husband John of Charlotte, Shannon Murray and husband Chris of Raleigh, Drew Piscopo and wife Whitney Greene Piscopo of Laurel Springs; four great-grandchildren: Will Murray, Wyatt Murray, Mae Koz and Chloe Koz; two sisters: Mary Alice Hudson of Sparta, Viola Shaw of Sparta; three brothers: Zane Brooks of Jonesville, Nelson Brooks of Oregon, Wayne Brooks and wife Barbara of Clemmons; sister-in-law, Norma Brooks of Clemmons; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.

Funeral Services to honor the life of Gertrude will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 25th 2023 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Rich Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SECU Hospice House, 243 N. Lee Avenue, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
