George Donald Brown

George Donald Brown, age 64 of Independence, VA; passed away Wednesday, May 20th, 2026 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC.

Donald was born October 13th, 1961 in Surry County, NC to Vivian Pauline Anderson Brown and the late George Franklin Brown. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harold David Brown.

Donald never met a stranger. He was a devoted member of New Beginnings Bible Baptist Church. Donald loved driving a truck and enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing. He also had a passion for his Harley-Davidsons and cherished his beloved dogs.

In addition to his mother, Donald was survived by his loving wife, Tina Brown of the home; a daughter, Ashley Brown of AL; two sisters: Annie Funderburk (Keith) of Kanapolis, NC, Rosezetta Spicer (Michael) of State Road, NC; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jerry and Jean Dowell of Independence, VA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mark and Cindy Jones of Independence, VA; nieces, nephews, extended family and many special friends also survive.

Funeral Services to honor the life of Donald will be held at 3:00 pm Tuesday, May 26th, 2026 at Gold Hill Baptist Church in Independence, VA with Pastor Robbie Dolinger and Reverend Mark Jones officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gold Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1748 Gold Hill Road Independence, VA 24348.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and staff of Elkin Oncology and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist for the wonderful care given to Donald during his time of sickness.
