Honoring the Life of Gary Eugene Moore

September 8, 1951 – December 30, 2025

Gary Eugene Moore of Lansing, North Carolina passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Gary Eugene Moore lived a life anchored in Christ, shaped by Scripture, and strengthened by the teachings of the Apostle Paul. His faith was quiet but unshakeable, evident in the way he lived. He believed deeply in humility, consistency, and the quiet strength that comes from walking closely with the Lord.

Born in Harrison County, Mississippi, on September 8, 1951, Gary grew up in Miami, Florida. After traveling throughout the country, he discovered a love for a slower, close knit way of life. That journey eventually led him to the Appalachian Mountains in Ashe County, North Carolina, where he would put down roots and raise his family.

Family was the center of Gary’s life, and he carried himself with a calm steadiness that brought comfort to those around him. Gary was a quiet and stoic man, comfortable with silence and thoughtful in how he carried himself. He listened more than he spoke, but when he did speak, it mattered. His humor was quick, dry, and perfectly timed, often catching people off guard with a sharp and witty remark. When his words were serious, they carried depth and meaning.

Gary was widely known for his extraordinary piano playing. Music was not simply a passion for him, but a constant companion throughout his life. Wherever he went, music followed. His love for classical compositions and hymns was evident in the way he played, filling spaces with beauty and depth. The piano was always part of his life, and through it he brought joy, calm, and meaning to those around him. For many, his music was one of the most memorable ways they experienced who Gary truly was.

He had a deep passion for being in the kitchen, not for recognition, but for the joy of providing and bringing his family together. Cooking was one of the ways he expressed love. Coffee marked the slower moments of the day through reflection, comfort, and routine.

He served in the United States Navy and was medically and honorably discharged. His time in service shaped his discipline and deepened his lifelong fascination with submarines and naval life.

Above all, Gary lived a joyful life of faith and devotion to his family. His days were guided by gratitude, love, and a steady trust in the Lord, and his life reflected the peace and joy that came from walking faithfully with God.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Alice Moore.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Moore. His children; Wesley Moore and wife Brooke Moore, Sarah Moore, and David Moore. He is also survived by his step sons Ricky Pelton and wife Lauren Pelton, and Robbie Pelton and wife Beth Pelton. He is further survived by his sister Diana Boyd and husband Rick Boyd, and his sister Sara Cline and husband David Williams. Gary was a proud grandfather to Giovanni, Genevieve, Salvatore, Valentino Moore, Kaydee Trent, Kiera, Robbie Jr, Haven Pelton. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and loving friends.

Gary would want his life to be remembered first and foremost as a life devoted to serving the Lord. He believed deeply in living according to the teachings of the Apostle Paul, walking in humility, endurance, faithfulness, and quiet obedience to Christ. He understood that a man’s legacy is not found in words spoken about him, but in the way he lives each day, steady, committed, and rooted in faith. As his life is remembered and celebrated, may it be done with gratitude and joy, honoring the faith that guided him and the hope he carried.

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7 KJV
