Floyd Orrin "Pud" Roupe, age 94 of Sparta; passed away Wednesday, November 9th, 2022 at the SECU Hospice Center in Yadkinville, NC.
Pud was born March 4th, 1928 in Alleghany County to the late Frank and Fairye Jones Roupe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Church Roupe; a brother, Fred Roupe; three sisters: Louise Musgrove, Sue Williams and Frankie Nichols.
Pud was a life long resident of Alleghany County. He was a former Owner/Operator of Roupe Brothers Electric, a member and Deacon of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, a member of Sparta Masonic Lodge #423 AF&AM, a former Chairman of Alleghany County Board of Elections, and was the oldest, living, former Sheriff in North Carolina prior to his death.
Survivors include two children: Jo Ann Andrews and husband Joe "Buddy" of Sparta, Mike Roupe and wife Lizabeth of Sparta; three grandchildren: Heather Shea Andrews of Sparta, Brooke Bennett and husband Otto Rihtaric of Conroe, TX, Zak Roupe and wife Miranda of Sparta; two great-grandchildren: Addilynn and Mallory Roupe of Sparta; a sister-in-law, Betty Roupe of Sparta; a special friend, Marie Busic of Piney Creek; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.
Funeral Services to honor the life of Pud will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, November 13th, 2022 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Brian Severt and Brother Ed Hall officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery Trust Fund, PO Box 942 Sparta, NC 28675.
The family respectfully request no food be brought to their respective homes.
