Faye Halsey Mabe, age 100, of Laurel Springs, NC; passed away Friday, March 1st, 2024 just 3 days shy of her 101st birthday.
Faye was born March 4th, 1923 in Grayson County, VA to the late Jack and Sena Hash Halsey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Claude W. Mabe; a son, Jim Mabe; a daughter, Geraldine M. Blevins; a grandson, Joshua Ryan Souther; brothers and sisters also preceded her in death. Faye was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and served as the Communion Steward. She loved her flowers and working in the yard.
Survivors include five grandchildren: Pam Souther and husband Alan of Piney Creek, Brad Mabe and wife Ashley of Laurel Springs, Teresa Binder and husband Mike of Laurel Springs, Andy Blevins and wife Daina of Sparta, Scott Mabe and wife Teena of Laurel Springs; fourteen great-grandchildren: Lacey Jaye Hayes and husband Mark, Karly Phipps and husband Reece, Luke Souther and wife India, Brittani Angel and husband Vince, Jeremy Mabe and wife Mika, Bre Price, Courtney J. Binder, Destiny Hodge and husband Jonathan, Joshua Blevins, Rachel Rife and husband Lucas, Branden Mabe, Emily Mabe, Paxton Wooten and husband Justin, Kailey Hodge; eleven great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Lucy Mabe of Laurel Springs; a son-in-law, Tim Blevins of Laurel Springs; a special niece, Joyce Dishman; many additional nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.
Funeral Services to honor the life of Faye will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, March 4th, 2024 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Pastor Homer Murdock officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of The Landings at Chestnut Grove for the care given to her during her stay there.
