Erta Lee (Shores) Jordan

Erta Lee Shores Jordan, age 97, of Independence, VA and formerly of Sparta; passed away Wednesday, January 13th, 2021 at her residence.

Erta was born October 15th, 1923 in Alleghany County to the late Leonard and Verdie Richardson Shores. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Jordan; two sisters: Marie S. Holbrook and Annie Profitt; two brothers: Levi Shores and Roy Shores; a nephew, Tommy Profitt.

Survivors include three nieces: Dorene Caudill of Sparta, Judy Shores Caudill of Georgia, Jane O'Haley of California; three great nieces: Christy Klein and husband Steven of Sparta, Lynn Caudill and Adam Nilo of Sparta, Roseann Powell and husband Claude of Wilkesboro; a great nephew, Chad Ham of Sparta; great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family also survive.

A memorial service will be conducted by the family at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 24th, 2021 at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church in the Whitehead Community of Sparta.

The family respectfully request no food or visitors at the home.
